"Unless one can find a person transcendental to the four basic defects, (he is illusioned, he commits mistakes, his knowledge is imperfect, and he has the propensity to cheat) one should not accept advice and become a victim of the material condition. The best process is to take the advice and instruction of Sri Krsna or His bona fide representative. In this way one can be happy in this life and the next."  -   Srila Prabhupada purport, SB: 5.14. 26

CONCERNS regarding Romapada Swami

(You can't fool all the people, all the time!)

"The previous GBC (in Phoenix) was unceremoniously removed from his position there by the NA GBC executive committee because of the speculation that he would allow the temple to be taken out of Iskcon. There was not proper procedure followed for this drastic step and it has set a terrible precedent."

                                 - email from Trivikram Swami, Feb., 2014

"I have NEVER lent money to any temple or to any

devotee, or asked for interest on such a loan".

                                  - Romapada Swami's offficial statement to

ISKCON Resolve mediator, Braja Bihari das

                   Romapada, caught in another lie?

"That is the thing about Romapada Swami. He does not tell the truth about his income. I personally saw on his desk a contract he had drawn up by a lawyer, where he was to lend the New York temple $90,000 and receive the money back to himself with interest".

                 - by Locan Ananda das in a phone

                      conversation with Dasarath;

(note: When asked about this, Romapada replied,

"Oh, I forgot about that one." )

SINCE WHEN CAN A LIAR BE A GURU?

"I spoke with RS and he indicated that there has not been other loans before or since that one event in New York that I wrote to you about in May of this year."

                          - another email from Braja Bihari das, 7/20/2007

SINCE WHEN CAN A LIAR BE A GURU?

Why does  Romapada lie so much?

What does he have to hide??

Liars always have something to hide.

"Our GBC, Romapada Swami, lent our temple $20,000

and we paid him back - with interest."

                 - Pyari Mohan das, Temple President, Hartford, CT.

(note: To which Romapada replied, "Oh, I forgot about

that one too. But that's all. There were no others.")

"It does seem quite odd for any sannyasi to make out loans to anyone and charge them interest. Is it part of

the sannyasa ashram to be in the loan business? It may be worth mentioning at a sannyasa or GBC meeting.

Such  activities won't build confidence in our spiritual leadership, although it  may be good for business."

- email to GBC chairman Bhakti Vaibhava Swami

from Dasarath das, April 2006 to which Maharaj responds:

"Financial accountability and transparency among our ISKCON leaders is being discussed in our GBC meetings more and more. Your points are valid. Regarding the particular case you mentioned, I could bring it to the attention of our standing sannyasa sub-committee."

"This scandal of wrongfully changing the GBC and temple management in Phoenix, was the work of Romapada.

He does such things which usually backfire in his face."

                 - Hridayananda Das Goswami

                      (previous GBC for Phoenix)

Romapada, caught in a lie?

Gunagrahi Maharaj related that there is a sannyasi godbrother who said that he knows of MANY temples and individuals whom Romapada Swami has lent money to. But the sannyasi asked that Maharaj not give his name to anyone.
  - Gunagrahi Goswami, ISKCON regional secretary, Argentina

"Romapada Swami comes around here to Seattle and visits the homes of some of our congregation and I hear he does very well collecting money. I never see any of that laxmi for the temple. If you want to, you could report him to the IRS."

             - statement by Hari Vilas das (GBC for Phoenix and Seattle)

in a telephone conversation with Dasarath das (2006)

"So many godbrothers called to pay their last respects before my

departure from this world, many of our big leaders. Some also came

to see me - Satsvrarupa Maharaj, Kirtanananda, Radhanath Maharaj,

and many others. Depending on who they were, I gave them what I felt Supersoul wanted me to speak. To a few of them, I spoke strongly.

One of the most unusual persons I did not expect to come, was Romapada Swami. I confronted him on an issue, whereby I said that he had led an investigation against me, to discredit me. Over and over, he denied any such involvement. Even though I mentioned specifics and individuals that only he would know were involved, persons who had told me it was Romapada Maharaj who sent them, Romapada still continued to deny any such involvement. But after I named so many of the details and persons he had deployed on his 'witch hunt', he finally lowered his head in shame and stopped speaking or denying the truth. He never apologized for his duplicitous behavior."

                                                                    - Conversation between Bhakti Tirtha Swami

and a "spiritual warrior", who was

                                                                       visiting Maharaj just weeks before

Maharaja's leaving this world. This story

                                                                       was affirmed by Maharaj's personal

                                                                       secretary also.

NOTE: Besides the person making the

above statement, their were also two

                                                                       eye-witnesses who heard this fibbing

                                                                        episode by Romapada.

The point is, a liar CANNOT be a guru!

A liar is nothing but that - a liar!

This shouldn't be difficult to understand.

"You should FIGHT this Romapada! He is ruining ISKCON North America."

   - His Holiness

         Navayogendra Swami

And now, a few words from

the North American GBC  Executive Committee chairman....

"I would expect some corruption in the GBC. It is the material world, it is Kali Yuga."

- statement by Nityananda dasa to Dasarath during the same meeting

"If you are going to be cheated, it is best to be cheated by a devotee, because then, it all goes to a devotee!"

 - a remarkable statement told to Dasarath das by the North American GBC Executive Council Chairman Nityananda dasa, during a private meeting

in ISKCON Tucson, 2014

"If Dasarath doesn't take Romapada Swami and Badri out of the ISKCON resolve investigation process, I have been told by the North American GBC Executive Committee to begin proceedings to have him excommunicated."

                - GOPAL BHATTA DAS to Sandamini devi dasi

                                                    at L.A. Rathayatra 2008

"I don't know how to say this, but I will say it anyway. If you write anything negative about Romapada Swami any more, publicly, I will become your worst enemy! I will go to the IRS, the mayor of your city, the newspaper, and however else, to discredit you, and let them know what kind of person you really are. I don't care what you do against other members of the North American GBC, but Romapada Maharaj is my personal friend." - by GOPAL BHATTA DAS, Chairman

GBC Strategic Planning Team, in a telephone conversation with Dasarath, 2010

NOTE: My Answer to Gopal Bhatta Prabhu

Sorry, but we do not need corrutption, or a mafia in ISKCON who self-empowers themselves to use INTIMIDATION, and even gunda tactics in their management skills whenever they deem it necessary.

Srila Prabhupada has said that ISKCON has NOTHING to do wIth politics, NOTHING to do with trying to centralize ISKCON or its management, and NOTHING, NOTHING, NOTHING to do with CORRUPTION!

We need an accountable body of serious followers of Srila Prabhupada in positions of the GBC, who abhor corruprtion and would rather die trying to protect the Krishna Consciousness Movement from such a Kali Yuga quality, and from any such ulterior motives portrayed by persons, whomever they may be, as illustrated herein.

WHEN WILL THE GBC BODY BECOME SERIOUS TO DO THE NEEDFUL IN THIS REGARD, TO RID THE GBC OF CORRUPTION, AND REMOVE THOSE WHO WANT TO CONTINUE THE AGE OLD "GOOD 'OL BOYS CLUB", UNTOUCHABLE IMAGE? WHEN WILL THEY THUS BEHAVE LIKE TRUE, ACCOUNTABLE, RAJARSHIS WHO CARE ABOUT ISKCON AND ITS MEMBERS MORE THAN THEY CARE ABOUT THEMSELVES? THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE GOOD, THE MAJORITY, SACRIFICE FOR THE BETTER OF ISKCON. STOP THE CORRUPTION!

                                                                                                                 -  Your humble servant & godbrother,  Dasarath Das

MORE STORIES AND ACCOUNTS

Embezzlement of Funds?

We have very recently received this report on Romapada from a very senior devotee in ISKCON:

According to a report, for many years now, Romapada Swami has been going to the temple treasurer of the Towaco temple, with checks he has received from donors, and although the checks are written out to ISKCON, he instructs the treasurer to exchange the ISKCON checks for cash, which he then takes for himself. The treasuer Vrindavan Chandra das and temple accountant Banke Bihari das have been very disturbed about this and have relayed these reports to me. I have checked on this with the IRS, and they told me that this would be considered a very serious case of fraud as well as illegal.

EMBEZZLEMENT OF FUNDS?

TWO EYEWITNESSES SEE ROMAPADA'S PERSONAL ACCOUNT CHECK BOOK, WITH MILLIONS OF $$$ in it!

Perhaps the most amazing of all references about the money rumors of Romapada Swami, is that two ex-disciples who were both acting as his personal servants in different periods, Samba das and a lady devotee, both have claimed to have seen Romapada's personal bank ledger that he had left out. They saw that he had millions of dollars in his personal acount under the name Brian Rumbaugh. Romapada later banned that brahmacari from the temple.

EMBEZZLEMENT OF FUNDS?

Some time back, when Rasa Manjari devi dasi was the temple president of Columbus ISKCON, she went to one of the temple's big supporters to pick up a promised donation of $10,000, which was going to be used as the temple's payment towards the Turley legal case. When she went to pick up the laxmi, the Indian man said that Romapada Swami had come there and that he had already given the money to him. She was able to track the "Swami" down, but could get him to give back only half the money.

EMBEZZLEMENT?

"Romapada Swami has been caught, chastised by the GBC of India, for going around to areas in India and collecting money from the Indian people where he has no managerial authority to go. But still he goes."

ST. LOUIS ISKCON

More than a decade ago, Romapada Swami, the GBC for St. Louis, gave the temple president and his wife $2,500 to take a few months off. When they returned, without any discussion or advance notice, they discovered that Romapada Swami had removed them from their service and put one of his own disciples in charge, and had changed the Board of Directors. The devotee couple came to me in Tucson with very little money and no where to go. I encouraged them to start their own brand new preaching Center, which they did in Las Vegas. They have been running a very successful preaching Center for Srila Prabhupada there ever since. However, the methodology that RS used was not bona fide and showed no respect for these devotees, and lacked proper protocol and GBC procedure.

During the North American GBC / Temple President's annual meeting in Dallas of 2009, it had been voted on and decided that there was going to exist an accountability committee of devotees, whose job was to hear fairly from whatever temple leader might be having a problem with their GBC representative and visa versa. Rompada Swami, also a member of the committee, decided later that they didn't need such a committee.
